History of Schnyder Candles
Schnyder Kerzen, founded in 1798, is the oldest candle manufacturer in Central Switzerland and a family business based in Einsiedeln. With 13 employees, they produce candles for churches, retailers, and private customers – from baptism and wedding candles to custom designs. Their products, such as the popular hoarfrost candles, are poured and drawn by hand, which ensures their quality and longevity. Since 1997, Dominic Braun and his brother Andreas Braun (sole authorized signatory) have managed the company with a team of seven, preserving the more than 200-year-old tradition and complementing it with innovative approaches. This tradition meets sustainability – a perfect combination.
The Einsiedeln Christmas Market: A must for candle fans
The Christmas market in Einsiedeln is one of the most beautiful and most visited markets in Switzerland – with a high search volume and over 130 stalls, it attracts thousands of visitors every year. From November 28 to December 8, 2025, the Klosterplatz will be transformed into a festive setting, and Schnyder Kerzen will be there with a stall in the arcades. Here, they will present Advent candles, angel candles, and Madonna candles – handmade and unique. Our collaboration with Schnyder Kerzen
Our collaboration with Schnyder Kerzen is something special: Together, we develop cylinder candles in three versions – made from rapeseed wax, olive wax, or beeswax. Each wax type offers its own advantages:
Rapeseed wax: Renewable, clean-burning, derived from rapeseed.
Olive wax: Environmentally friendly, made from olive residue.
Beeswax: Natural, with a warm scent and long burning time.
This partnership is important to us because it combines our vision of sustainability with their craftsmanship.
An inspiring visit
We were on-site in Einsiedeln and were able to visit the Schnyder Kerzen workshop. The sight of the wax being precisely poured into molds and the passion of the team were incredibly inspiring. This visit showed us why Schnyder Kerzen has stood for excellence for over two centuries and increased our enthusiasm for this collaboration.
